How did you start doing spoken words?
Scott Ian: I got asked to do a show in London about two years ago by a promotor who was doing this “Rock Stars Say The Funniest Things” They asked me to come do a show and tell stories. I was very curious about it just to see if it was something I could do. I sounded so fun to me, so I said yes of course. I had such a great time doing that so I decided that it was something I’d like to do more of. Everything I say is very important. So it’s all very, very, very, very important subjects that I’m talking about and people should pay very close attention to me cause I will give them a quiz about it at the end of the night to see if they actually are listening. It’s that kind of show where the only person I’m talking shit about is myself, I’m not really talking shit about anyone else. Well, sometimes (laughs). I mostly tell stories about life though and people I’ve hung out with, crazy things that I’ve been a part of. It’s not that kind of a show where I can regret anything that I say.
You’re gonna be in Gothenburg next week, what are your thoughts about that show?
Scott Ian: I don’t have any specific thoughts about that show other than I’m happy about going back there. I have been there before with the band. I look at every show in the same way, it’s my job to entertain people for two hours. I take it very seriously since a lot of people don’t have any idea what to expect. I want the people that take the risk and come to the show to really enjoy it and might want to see it again and tell their friends about it. They should expect two hours of very important subjects. Lots of politics, religion and we are going to talk about the shootings in Paris. If they think about the exact opposite of what I just said, that’s what they can expect (laughs). We are not going to talk about anything too serious!
